  • What do you suggest for the construction of interior walls?
    Answer:
The inner wall thickness is usually 8 cm. The prevailing view for the construction of interior walls is that it does not need bigger thickness of wall while it does not offer something, on the contrary it decreases the space of the rooms. This view however does not take account of the advantages of thicker walls. A.K.E.K. suggests solutions for the construction of internal walls, which with small losses of space and low cost provide multiple benefits. • What is this white powder that is presented on the bricks and resembles salt?
    Answer:
The white powder that appears in the ceramic is a natural phenomenon called "efflorescence" of ceramics. It comes mainly from the formation of soil (clay) and is generated during the burning at high temperatures. This phenomenon also occurs in other building materials (cement, sand, marble) and occurs around the world, not only in the Cretan soil.

This powder is not chlorides (salt) is not permanent and comes to the surface of the ceramic once. It stays only on the surface, it does not corrode the brick and has no effect on its strength and its other attributes.

All these has been confirmed after research by specialists, both in Greece and abroad. More information can be found on the website of the American Ceramic Society http://ceramics.org.

The continuous checks and the long time experience of our company ensures the reliability and quality of our products.

  • Which is the right "color" for a brick? Is the "red" brick better?
    Answer:
The color of the brick is formed mainly by the composition of the raw material (clay).
The composition of local clay gives the Cretan bricks an earthy yellow color.
The "color" does not affect the technical characteristics of brick.
